Celtic sign Czech striker Tomáš Čvančara

Celtic have completed the signing of Czech striker Tomáš Čvančara.

The 25-year old has joined on an initial loan deal which could become permanent in the summer.

Čvančara joins from German side Borussia Monchengladbach where he scored eight times in 54 appearances.

The Czech Republic international spent the first of of this campaign on loan at Antalyaspor in Turkey.

His most successful spell came in his homeland with Sparta Prague.

Speaking to the club's official website, the forward said: “It’s a massive honour to sign for this club.

'I am so excited to get started and make my own contribution to the team.'

"We have lots of challenges ahead of us and I am ready to get going and do everything I can to meet these and bring success to our brilliant supporters.

“Celtic is one of the great names in world football and I am delighted to be here to play my part.”

Celtic manager Martin O'Neill added: "We are delighted to welcome Tomas to the club, we believe he has some real qualities and we think he will be an import addition to the squad going forward."
