Celtic extended their Scottish Premiership lead with a 2-0 win over Motherwell on Saturday.

Moussa Dembele's 34th-minute penalty, after he was fouled by Zak Jules, put Celtic ahead and James Forrest jinked past Joe Chalmers to double the lead before half-time.

That was how it stayed, enough to leave the Hoops 27 points clear of Aberdeen and 30 ahead of rivals Rangers, with those teams both playing on Sunday.

Partick Thistle moved from 10th up to sixth as Kris Doolan's second-half double earned them a 2-0 win over Hamilton.

The teams began the day two points apart, with the Accies in the relegation play-off spot and Thistle one place ahead, but Partick took the spoils as Doolan headed in crosses from Chris Erskine and Callum Booth.

Bottom club Inverness held fourth-placed Hearts to a 1-1 draw at Tynecastle.

Carl Tremarco headed Caley Thistle into a half-time lead from Greg Tansey's free-kick. It was the full-back's seventh goal of the season, more than in the previous eight years of his career combined.

Hearts hit back midway through the second half when Arnaud Djoum volleyed home Perry Kitchen's cross at the back post but they missed the chance to win it when Djoum was fouled by Ross Draper but Jamie Walker's penalty was saved by Owain Fon Williams.

St Johnstone won 2-1 at Ross County thanks to Chris Kane's late winner.

Steven MacLean gave Saints a half-time lead, the forward involved in the build-up and then receiving Blair Alston's pass and beating Scott Fox in the home net.

Jim O'Brien played in Craig Curran to level the scores but as the game ticked into stoppage time, Kane fired past Fox for a superb winner.
