Celtic youngster Daniel Kelly signs pre-contract with Millwall
Celtic youngster Daniel Kelly has agreed a pre-contract with English Championship side Millwall.
The 18-year old will officially make the move when the January transfer window opens as his current deal expires in December.
Kelly featured six times for Brendan Rodgers' side last season and was tipped to have a bright future at the club.
However, he was dropped from their first team squad this summer after failing to agree an extended contract.
He follows fellow youth academy product Rocco Vata out the door with the Republic of Ireland under-21 international making his move to Watford.
Millwall boss Neil Harris confirmed their capture after their EFL Cup win over Portsmouth on Tuesday night.
He said: “Dan has agreed to join the club. A deal has been agreed and he has signed. He officially joins us in January and he is a young player that falls into the mould of Romain, Aidomo and Alfie that we think has got huge potential. The board want us to be that football club. The football club wants to evolve.
“He is a very good player and when Dan first walks in the building he is not going to be someone who everyone should expect to go straight into the team.
“Obviously he is very young but everyone should take heart that we’ve seen Alfie Massey, who is very young, make his debut tonight and it was an outstanding performance. Dan is a box-to-box midfielder, probably an old fashioned eight that has got great energy.
“I’d like him personally to be like a young George Saville when George first came into the football club. He breaks into the box and scores goals. He has got energy, passion and Millwall aggression as well to his play.”
