Dundee United midfielder Calum Butcher has accepted a three game ban for his challenge on Celtic's David Turnbull.

The 30-year was issued with a notice of complaint on Tuesday and has decided not to contest it at a tribunal hearing.

The accepted charge means Butcher will serve an initial two-match ban, with a further game added due to him going over the disciplinary threshhold.

Referee Don Robertson booked Butcher for the tackle during Sunday's 3-0 defeat.

However, a panel of three former referees reviewed footage of the incident and unanimously agreed it was violent conduct.

Butcher will miss United's game with Livingston on Saturday and the trip to face Rangers a week later, plus the visit of Hibernian on Boxing Day.
