Callum Booth taking positives from quiet January window

The full-back says the Thistle players must repay the faith shown in them

Full-back Callum Booth thinks it is positive that Partick Thistle were quiet in the transfer window - but knows he and his team-mates must prove their manager was right.

Thistle boss Alan Archibald only made one signing in January, Baily Cargill, and the Bournemouth loan defender was a direct replacement for Jordan Turnbull following his sudden departure to Northampton.

Archibald has been boosted by the return to fitness of the likes of Booth, Abdul Osman and Mustapha Dumbuya over the winter break and the former Hibernian left-back is keen to carry on the momentum after two victories in two games in 2018.

The 26-year-old, who had five months on the sidelines, said: "With the boys coming back from injury, I know it's an old cliche, but it's kind of been like new signings for us. We still have a couple to come back as well.

"The squad is really healthy and there's no point signing players for the sake of it. It's probably good that the manager didn't bring anyone in and now it's up to us to prove him right.

"It's brilliant to be back after bring out for so long and two positive results away from home, so it's been really good so far.

"I've not had any problems with my knee so it been great to be back out there. You just realise how much you miss it being out on the sidelines for so long.''

Thistle are aiming to carry on their winning run at Motherwell on Saturday and go on the sort of run that propelled them from the bottom of the Ladbrokes Premiership to a top-six finish last year.

Booth said: "It's not just going to happen just because we did it last year. But hopefully we can have a little push.

"But first and foremost it's safety first. We are still second-bottom so we need to start getting more wins.'
