Caixinha says he's a fighter who never gives up
Pedro Caixinha says he's ready to battle on as Rangers boss, declaring: "I never give up.''
Ibrox chairman Dave King made a rare visit to Scotland on Sunday for the League Cup semi-final at Hampen but ended up watching his team lose 2-0 to Motherwell.
Sunday's defeat has raised fresh doubts over Caixinha's ability to restore the Ibrox team to their former glories.
With more and more supporters now questioning his leadership, Wednesday's clash with Kilmarnock could yet prove crucial.
But Caixinha says he is determined to save his job.
"I can tell you I'm not a survivor because survivors go by the wind,'' said the 46-year-old. "I never give up, so I'm a fighter.''
Caixinha came out all guns blazing as he met the media just 24 hours after his side's tame defeat to Well.
He accused his players of "embarrassing me, embarrassing our club, embarrassing our fans'' with their display on Sunday at his pre-match press conference ahead of Killie's midweek visit.
But he admits his performance should also be scrutinised, even if he does not believe he has yet had enough time to make meaningful changes at Ibrox.
Caixinha, who spent around #10million this summer signing up 11 new players, said: "I'm going to ask one question. How many transfer windows have we used since I arrived here? One.
"Do you think we have everything they way we want to have it? Not just in the squad, but the whole structure of the club?
"It's not a question of whether I'm allowed the time to make those changes, it's a question of convictions.
"I have my convictions. I came here to do my job and we will see until how long I can do it.
"I've only been here for seven months, but I'm not here to change the world or fight against the world. But I'm here to try to change the club and push it in the direction it needs to take to get to the top again.
"I need to be judged all the time. Every day, because this is what happens in massive clubs.
"We need to keep growing to have everything together. But from day one I said you need to judge me.
"I'm not having excuses or justifications or saying, 'Let's see where the wind is blowing for me to be on the same direction'. No, I'm always the same. That's my direction. That's the one I'm going to take.'
