Celtic defender Boli Bolingoli has officially left the club on a permanent basis.

The 27-year old has signed a two-year contract with Belgian side KV Mechelen after making just two appearances for Ange Postecoglou's team last season.

Bolingoli was loaned to Russian outfit Ufa in February - but the move was cut short due to the country's invasion of Ukraine.

He caused controversy 2020 by breaking COVID-19 quarantine rules and making a trip to Spain without notifying the club.

The Belgian full-back then played against Kilmarnock on his return earning him a three-match ban by the Scottish FA.

Mechelen sporting director Tom Caluwé said: “Boli knows what it's like to play under pressure. Club, Celtic, Rapid, they are all top teams in their league.

"With the surplus still being matches in the Champions League and the Europa League. He can give us an extra boost both defensively and offensively."
