The Sky Bet Championship club confirmed the winger had signed a four-year contract after moving for an undisclosed fee which is believed to be an initial £500,000 plus potential add-ons.

The 22-year-old had been increasingly sidelined by Warburton's Ibrox successor, Pedro Caixinha, and was recently training with the under-20s.

The Scotland international had rejected an offer to extend his contract beyond summer 2018 and stated that the club had not come back with an improved deal.

McKay made his Rangers debut in 2012 and had loan spells with Morton and Raith Rovers before rejuvenating his Ibrox career under Warburton
