Allan McGregor agrees Rangers one-year contract extension

Allan McGregor will continue his Rangers career next season after agreeing a one-year contract extension.

The 40-year old looked as if he was set to call time on his Ibrox career after being substituted on towards the end of their Scottish Cup final victory over Hearts.

However, the veteran stopper has now agreed to stay on for another year.

McGregor played a key role in Rangers making it to the Europa League final last season and made 48 appearances in all competitions.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst now has a decision to make between the sticks this campaign with Jon McLaughlin and Robby McCrorie still under contract.

Experienced midfielders Steven Davis and Scott Arfield have both already signed new deals this summer.

McGregor told the club's official website: “I’m obviously delighted. At the end of last season, there were a lot of games and a lot of concentration on the games.

“I then had a couple of weeks’ holiday and really thought about it and spoke to a lot of people about it, and everybody said to play as long as you can.

“After the break, that’s what I was thinking myself, so here we are.”
