Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has joined player Alfredo Morelos in winning the monthly Premiership awards for December.

The Dutchman oversaw a flawless month at Ibrox, as the defending champions won all six league games without conceding a goal.

The first of the month saw a narrow victory at Hibernian, before wins against Dundee, Hearts, St Johnstone, Dundee United and St Mirren saw the Gers end the year six points clear at the top of the table.

After winning his first Manager of the Month award, van Bronckhorst said: ""I think the start of my career at Rangers has been very positive, and I am very proud to win this award, but I think what is behind the award is much more important.

"It means we have done a great job and my staff who have come with me and the staff who are already here have helped me a lot and have worked hard to achieve the wins we have had.

"Also, the players - I thank them as well for all the work they have done in the last weeks and month, and that is why I have got this award. It means you are doing a good job and gives me more motivation to kick-on."

Additionally, striker Alfredo Morelos has been named the Premiership Player of the Month after scoring four goals in six games.

The Colombian scored against Dundee, Hearts, St Johnstone and St Mirren, as well as grabbing one assist.

The 25-year-old has been rejuvenated since the arrival of van Bronckhorst at Ibrox and now has 13 goals in all competitions this campaign.

The Dutchman applauded his attacker and said: “He has scored some important goals that have been important for the team.

“He is working hard; his attitude time has been really good and has been a positive factor for the team.”

It is the third Morelos has been given the award, previously winning in September 2019 and March 2021.

He now has an impressive 107 goals in 211 games for the Govan side.
