Dates are always a huge conundrum, what to wear, what to say, and of course where to go! Try something a bit different and keep things interesting with our selection of romantic things to do and locations that won't break the bank.

Whether you're trying to prevent a new date from becoming cannon fodder for the next dating-disaster chat with your friends, or are looking to keep the magic alive if you've been dating a while, we've pulled together a list of parks, museums and other wonders from across Glasgow that would make a great spot for a date!

We've included some beautiful outdoor spots to take advantage of the nice weather, as well as some indoor locations for those inevitable rainy days. Here are some romantic places we recommend for a date in and around Glasgow.

Best places to go on a date in Glasgow:

Go for a stroll through Glasgow's beautiful parks

Glasgow has some incredibly picturesque parks to take your date to. Some of the nicest parks for a walk in Glasgow are Pollok Country Park, Kelvingrove Park, Victoria Park, Alexandra Park, Mugdock Country Park and of course there's Glasgow Botanic Gardens.

Climb The Lighthouse in Glasgow

Designed in 1895, the Lighthouse is Charles Rennie Mackintosh's first public commission, and remains an iconic building in Glasgow. It is also conveniently tucked away behind the Style Mile and is more of a unique date spot.

Visit the Galleries and museums in Glasgow

If an arty date is what you're looking for, then you are spoilt for choice. From the history of the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, to the modern Riverside museum, Glasgow has it all.

The city boasts art and exhibitions which are; old, new, 3D, 2D, traditional and experimental. Charles Rennie Mackintosh's influence is abundant throughout the city, and there are many specialist exhibitions to explore. Our top choices include Pollok House, Hunterian Art Gallery, and the Centre for Contemporary Arts.

For a weather-proof winter date in Glasgow, the Kelvingrove Art Galleries and Museum never disappoints. Visitors from around the world flock to see the beautiful red sandstone building which houses art from French Impressionists to local floating heads!

Visit Dumgoyne and Earl’s Seat

A bit further out, approximately 16 miles from Glasgow's city centre, and near Killearn the steep peak of Dumgoyne is a local landmark towering at an impressive 709 metres. This is not a walk for the faint-hearted as it is a pretty steep climb and a total of 10.75km. Unquestionably this means that the views from the top are simply stunning.

An average walker in average conditions would complete the walk in three to four hours.

How challenging is it? The climb is pretty steep, and the path is eroded in some areas. The moorland section towards Earl's Seat can become quite boggy, so a bit tougher underfoot. It isn't advisable in poor weather, nor for beginners.

Go see The Clyde Walkway

The Clyde Walkway is one of our favourites. A staggering 65km stretch, it is an urban walk from Partick, just outside the city centre to New Lanark in South Lanarkshire. The walk affords fantastic views and historical sites, before culminating in a stunning gorge with waterfalls.

How challenging is it? The walk is straightforward and waymarked in places. There are muddy sections, but the main challenge is the total distance of 65km.

Take in some of Glasgow's amazing architecture

Glasgow is known for its incredible architecture ranging from buildings which are hundreds of years old to much more modern builds. There are several beautiful old buildings and landmarks in the city centre including Glasgow Cathedral, Glasgow Necropolis, the People's Palace and Provand's Lordship - which is often referred to as the oldest house in Glasgow.

If you head into the West End make sure you walk by the University of Glasgow, which is often compared to Hogwarts!

The venue can be one of the most memorable moments from your date so hopefully these ideas will give you a few different places to visit, and might open you up to finding a few of your own hidden gems in and around Glasgow.
