Youth Among Five Arrested For Sectarian Singing

A 15 year old boy's among 5 people arrested following a probe into sectarian singing during the Raith Rovers versus Rangers match last month. The teenager from Hamilton was arrested yesterday and charged under the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act.

An 18 year old man was arrested during the match on Friday 20th February at Kirkcaldy and charged under the same legislation. Two men, aged 17 and 20 from Glasgow and a 36 year old man from Falkirk are due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Tuesday 24th March.

Following post-match enquiries, supported by both clubs, a further three men have also been arrested and charged.

Inspector Alan Seath said: "This behaviour by a misguided minority is detrimental to the entire football community and will not be tolerated."

"Police Scotland takes all reports of offensive behaviour and communications very seriously and will pursue all lines of enquiry to ensure that offenders are brought before the courts."
