Young woman seriously injured in a hit-and-run in Glasgow

The 18 year old was struck by a car in the Cardonald area on Saturday night.

An 18-year-old woman's in a serious condition in hospital after being knocked down in a hit-and-run in Glasgow.

The victim was crossing Berryknowes Road near the junction with Carham Drive in Cardonald at around 7.15pm on Saturday when she was struck.

The car failed to stop and continued in the direction of Paisley Road West. The vehicle may have been damaged in the collision, police said.

The woman was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where she is currently being treated for her injuries.

Officers are checking CCTV in the area and appealing for any witnesses.

Constable Jamie Lynch said: "I am appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity at the time to contact us - this area is normally pretty busy with cars and pedestrians. Inquiries carried out so far have revealed that the car travelled in the general direction of Paisley Road West.

"It's also possible the car sustained damage in the incident so if anyone has any information or knowledge regarding this incident, please do get in touch.''
