Would-be thief flees empty handed from Springburn filling station

A man entered the Phoenix Filling Station on Keppochhill Road and threatened a female member of staff with a knife, demanding money on Friday morning

Detectives are appealing for information following an attempted robbery in the Springburn area of Glasgow on Friday 8 June 2018.

Around 8.30am a man entered the Phoenix Filling Station on Keppochhill Road and threatened a female member of staff with a knife, demanding money.

The woman said she was going to call the police and the man left the premises empty handed.

He is described as white, 5ft10, skinny and spoke with a local Glaswegian accent. He was wearing a black zipper jacket with the hood up, black gloves, light grey jogging bottoms and grey Nike Airmax trainers. He also had a white scarf covering his face.

Detective Sergeant Juan Carlos Arias De Leon from the Community Investigation Unit based at Govan said: “This was a very frightening ordeal for the woman working in the shop and it is imperative that we trace the despicable individual involved.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Keppochhill Road on Friday morning and may have noticed a man matching the above description, or anything at all suspicious, to please get in touch.
