A rugby team heading home from a match in Dumfries has escaped serious injury after a bus crashed.

The Hillhead Jordan Ladies team had played the Stewartry Sirens on Sunday 31st January and were making their way back to Glasgow when the bus lost control on the A701 road between Dumfries and Moffat.

It came off the road at a bend landing in a ditch near Blackacre.

Emergency services were quick on the scene and the girls walked away relatively unharmed.

The team has since taken to Facebook to thank those who helped. In a post last night they said, "All the girls are now home in Glasgow safe and well. It's fair to say the girls are all a bit shaken up.

"Thankfully no one is seriously injured and we have all managed to walk away relatively unharmed! What an amazing bunch of girls we have!"
