Terrified woman tied up and robbed in her Johnstone home

A woman’s been tied up and robbed in her Johnstone home. At around 2:15pm on Wednesday 27th February a man and woman approached the home of a 46-year old woman in Auchengreoch Avenue.

They then managed to get into the house where they tied the woman up and searched for money. The 46-year old woman did not require medical treatment, however she has been left badly shaken by the incident.

The suspects made off with a four-figure sum of money and ran towards Beith Road, Johnstone.

The male suspect is white, between 40 and 55 years old, around 5 ft. 8 inches in height, with a heavy build and balding. He was wearing a blue shirt, glasses, back trousers and an identity badge. He was carrying a black clip board and black rucksack.

The female suspect is white, around 5 ft. 9 inches in height, late 20s to early 30s, with a slim build, black hair which was tied up. She was wearing a cream or white coloured top, black jacket and black trousers. She too had a clip board and rucksack.

Officers continue to carry out door to door enquiries and forensics officers have been taking samples from the location.

CCTV footage is being collected for review for any additional information it could provide.

Detective Inspector David Wagstaff said: “This man and woman have gained entry to a woman’s home, a place where she should feel safe. She has then been tied up and robbed. Their actions are despicable and it’s imperative we trace those responsible.

‘’I would appeal to local residents to think back to yesterday, did you notice this man and woman? Both were smartly dressed and carrying clip boards to appear as if carrying out official enquiries, they were last seen heading towards Beith Road Johnstone; and we are keen to hear from anyone who saw them or saw any suspicious vehicles parked or moving in the area around 2:15pm.

‘’If you have any information, then please do contact us as your information could prove vital in our investigation leading to the man and woman being identified.”

Additional patrols are in the area to provide reassurance for local residents. If anyone has any concerns they can approach these officers and discuss the matter with them.
