A young mum's behind bars after leaving a woman with serious spinal injuries.

Alix McIntyre, from Barrhead, drove her car at Jacqueline Prentice in Pollock in November 2020 after an alleged dispute between the pair.

The 25-year-old pleaded guilty in March to assaulting Miss Prentice to her severe injury, permanent impairment and disfigurement as well as to the danger of her life.

The earlier hearing was told how the victim was at her mother's home when she spotted McIntyre driving past in her Volkswagen Golf.

There was then a "shouting match" in the street after the victim left the flat.

McIntyre, of Barrhead, Renfrewshire, initially drove off, but returned and headed straight for Miss Prentice.

Prosecutor Lorraine Glancy KC said: "She continued to drive at her pinning her against a wall.

"Miss Prentice was left pinned by the front of the car and her body was across the front.

"The Volkswagen reversed off at speed coming into contact with one of the parked cars before driving off."

As well the spinal injury, Miss Prentice also suffered a punctured lung.

She needed surgery and was only able to leave hospital around a fortnight later.

McIntyre was sentenced to three years and eight months at the High Court in Glasgow.
