A woman and her son have appeared in court today accused of bribery whilst on the jury of a previous case.
Catherine Leahy, 62, was the jury spokesperson in the case of Graham Clarke and others accused of drug trafficking, fraud and money laundering and appeared at Glasgow High Court yesterday.
Leahy's son, Joseph, 22, is also in court accused of being involved in the supply of cocaine, cannabis, MDMA and cannabis.
Prosecutors in Mrs Leahy's case allege that between November 2nd 2015 and June 2nd 2016 she and her son agreed to 'receive or accept a financial or other advantage.'
Mrs Leahy is also accused of performing her tasks as a juror 'improperly' in receipt of her 'advantage'.
The jury was told that Detective Inspector Graeme Everest of the organised crime and counter-terrorism financial investigations unit was notified by the procurator fiscal of an allegation about a member of the juror.
The police officer interviewed jury members, a process he described as 'extremely unusual'
To assist in their investigations the police received permission to place a 'bug' in the home of the Leahy's, which recorded 31 conversations between the pair.
The trial continues.
