Woman recovering after dog attack in Bothwell

The incident happened on Friday morning in the Silvertrees area

A woman is recovering after being attacked by a dog in Bothwell on Friday night.

Police were made aware of the incident, which happened in the Silvertrees area, at around 10.40am.

The woman was taken to hospital, and it is understood she is being treated for injuries to her face.

Bothwell Post Office posted to their social media yesterday morning, warning people to stay safe in the area.

The post said: “A bulldog/bully type dog got off its owner’s leash and attacked a puppy.

“Whilst trying to separate the dogs, the owner of the puppy was bitten in the face.”

It added: “Please be careful and alert all dog owners in the area.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
