A woman was raped in the East end of Glasgow on Wednesday evening.

The 38 year old woman entered a black transit van which was parked in Firpark Street in Dennistoun at about 4.30pm.

The suspect then subjected her to a serious sexual assault within the van before letting her out of the van and driving off.

The suspect is described as white, around 5ft 10, early to mid-30’s, medium/muscular build with short dark spiky hair. He was wearing a black t-shirt and black jogging bottoms.

Detective Inspector Graeme McLachlan at Greater Glasgow Public Protection Unit said: “This was a very traumatic ordeal for the woman to endure and our enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident.

“I’d like to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity around this time and saw the van parked in Firpark Street.

“I’m particularly keen to speak to a man and woman who we believe walked past the vehicle as the assault took place. The woman was wearing a beige coloured raincoat and was pulling a suitcase. The man was wearing a dark suit and carrying a briefcase. It is vital that this man and woman contact police urgently.

“Anyone with any information that could assist our enquiries is asked to contact Greater Glasgow Public Protection Unit via 101.”
