A woman's been seriously assaulted on Ashton Lane.

It happened just after midnight on Saturday 28 November - a 39 year old woman left a bar and was standing watching a busker when a man approached her and verbally abused her.

The woman was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The suspect was wearing a tartan or possibly checked shirt and jeans. Following the incident, he made off towards Great George Street. Detective Constable Nick Gribben said: “This is a popular area with revellers and plenty of people would have been in the area around the time of the incident.

We are reviewing CCTV images, however at this stage, I am appealing to people who were out and about in Ashton Lane around that time to get in touch with us – it’s possible they can provide us with further detail on the suspect which will assist our investigation.” Anyone with information is asked to call the non-emergency number, 101.
