Woman pays tribute to man allegedly murdered in Airdrie on Easter Sunday
Peter McElroy's mum described him as "a good boy at heart, who'll be sadly missed."
A woman has paid tribute to her son who was allegedly murdered in Airdrie on Easter Sunday.
Peter McElroy, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene in High Street. Officers had been called to an alleged disturbance at around 4.40pm.
Gerard McGinlay, 38, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Tuesday charged with his murder.
He made no plea and was remanded in custody.
Mr McElroy's mother, Rose McElroy, 62, said: “Peter was a good boy at heart who was loved dearly by all his family and friends and he will be sadly missed.”
Detective Inspector Frank Travers from the major investigations team said: “We are grateful for the assistance we have received from the local community following this incident and will continue to carry out inquiries in the local area in the coming days.
“A full report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
McGinlay was also charged with handling an offensive weapon.
