79 year old woman in serious condition after being hit by car in Coatbridge

A 79-year-old woman's in a serious but stable condition after being struck by a car in Coatbridge on Wednesday evening.

She was at a pedestrian crossing near Faraday Retail Park when she was hit with a silver Peugeot 208.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and the woman was taken to Wishaw General Hospital but later transferred to Glasgow University Hospital.

The 42-year-old man driving the car was not injured.

Sergeant Craig McDonald is appealing for any witnesses to the crash or anyone who was driving on the road at the time who has dash-cam footage to contact his office through 101 with reference number 2620 of 15 December.
