A woman has died after a fire in a village in North Lanarkshire.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12.30pm on Wednesday 9 May 2018, police were called to a report of a fire at a house in Coatbridge Road, Gartcosh.

"Emergency services attended and the body of a woman was found within the property.

"A joint investigation between police and fire services will be carried out to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
