Woman dies following North Ayrshire crash

The 37-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene on the A736 near Burnhouse

A woman has died in a crash in North Ayrshire.

Emergency services attended the collision between a grey Seat Ibiza and a bronze-coloured Renault Grand Scenic on the A736 near Burnhouse at 6.10pm on Saturday night.

The 37-year-old female driver of the Seat was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 57-year-old driver of the Renault is in a stable condition in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with leg injuries.

Enquiries are ongoing into the cause of the crash, and Sergeant Ian Thornton of the Divisional Road Policing Unit based in Irvine is appealing for any witnesses to the crash, or anyone who may have seen the vehicles being driven prior to the collision.
