Glasgow woman to stand trial accused of visiting Silverburn after testing positive for coronavirus

A Glasgow will stand trial accused of going to Silverburn shopping centre after testing positive for coronavirus.

Gillian Simpson, 40, allegedly made several trips there on January 2, 2021.

Court papers state tested positive for covid and was displaying symptoms.

It is claimed that she culpably and recklessly failed to isolate in her home.

She is further alleged to have driven a blue BMW 220 M sports car at excessive speed on the same date.

Simpson allegedly entered Silverburn as well as Marks and Spencer which exposed other people to risk of illness and infection.

Simpson pleaded not guilty to the single charge.

A trial was fixed for August by sheriff Johanna Johnstone QC.

Simpson, of the city's Crookston, had her bail continued meantime.
