A woman's standing trial next year charged with murdering a man.

45-year old Jayney Mains is accused of killing Alistair MacFadyen at a flat in Paisley, Renfrewshire on June 13 this year.

Prosecutors claim Mr MacFadyen was repeatedly struck with sharp objects or a similar bladed item.

He said to have been so severely injured that he died that day at Paisley's Royal Alexandra Hospital.

Mains – also known as Sutherlay – faced the allegation during a short hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.

Her advocate Victoria Young pled not guilty on her behalf.

A trial was set for next April. The case could last around six days.
