Police say the family of a missing Oban mum has been informed after the discovery of a woman's body in Argyll.

It's understood two walkers found the remains on a shore at Ardmucknish Bay, near Benderloch, at around 12.20pm yesterday.

Police Scotland said inquiries to establish the identity are at an early stage but the loved ones of Crystalla Dean who disappeared last month have been told.

A massive land and sea search was launched after the 52 year old was reported missing on December the 15th.

A spokesman added: "A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course to establish the cause of death and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.''
