A woman's body has been found at a property in Glasgow.

The body of the 51-year-old was discovered at an address in Dewar Drive, in the Drumchapel area of the city, shortly before 7pm on Wednesday.

The street has been cordoned off while police carry out inquiries at the scene and they remain on guard outside the property.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "At around 6.45pm on Wednesday September 26 the body of a 51-year-old woman was found within a property on Dewar Drive, Glasgow.

"Emergency services attended and inquiries are ongoing."

The victim's being named locally as mum-of-three Jeanna Maher, with tributes being paid on social media.

Lauren from Drumchapel who used to work with Jeanna in Asda told Clyde News: "Jeanna was just an amazing person. I don't ever remember seeing her without a smile on her face.

"She was just the bubbliest person you could ever meet. If I ever had a problem in work I knew I could go to her and she would help.

"I worked with her on the check-outs in Asda, I worked there for five years. Everybody there absolutely loved and respected her. Everybody is just shocked, no one knows what's going on. It's hitting everyone very hard.

"My heart goes out to her three boys, I know how much they adored their mum, I can't imagine what they're going through."
