Woman Assaulted and has Car Stolen During Robbery in Rutherglen
A woman has been assaulted and robbed by two men who fled the scene in her car, police said.
She was outside the William Hill bookmakers in Braemar Road in Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire, at about 5.20am today when the pair approached her.
They threatened her with weapons before assaulting her and taking her property, including car keys, and then left in her beige Citroen C4 which was last seen heading in the direction of the Cathkin bypass.
The first man is described as about 5ft 8ins, of medium build and clean-shaven with short light brown hair. He was wearing a dark hooded top and trousers.
The second man is described as 5ft 6ins and was wearing a light-coloured hooded top and dark trousers.
Detective sergeant Charles Limond said: "Thankfully the victim was not seriously hurt but this was nonetheless a terrifying ordeal resulting in her car and bag containing her personal belongings being taken.
"It is imperative that we trace those responsible as soon as possible and I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area around that time to contact the police.
"I would also urge people to look out for a beige Citroen C4 car, particularly if it's been parked in an unusual place or being driven by a man matching either of the descriptions.''
