A WOMAN has appeared in court charged with absconding from prison. Amy Stewart is alleged to have escaped from Cornton Vale prison in Stirling. The 31-year-old appeared at Stirling Sheriff Court where she made no plea or declaration.
She was represented by Bobby McCormack and remanded in custody.
Papers from the court allege that having been sentenced to life in prison for murder in February 2004 she "failed to comply" with her conditions of her temporary release licence between June 25 and July 3.
It is claimed that she left the prison on home curfew and "failed to return" to Cornton Vale on July 2.
And, that she "absconded and did attempt to defeat the ends of justice".
Stewart will appear for a full committal hearing next week.
