Former Scottish footballer and Coach Willie McStay is used to hitting the back of the net and climbing league tables but his son has a different kind of chart climbing success in mind.

Marc McStay gave up his full time job in February to manage local band Kelvin, after he was blown away by new material they had written.

He completely rebranded and renamed them and took them on tour to build up a fan base.

They recorded a demo and sent it to several producers and companies.

It was picked up by Jim Lowe who produces music for the Stereophonics and he was so impressed he flew the band down to London to record a track.

Marc said: "I was just blown away when I heard their music. So that was me, left my job and I've been their full time manager since February.

"I've always been a music fan and have been really into discovering bands before they go big. I saw James Bay at a gig with ten people and within a year he was massive. So, I've always been trying to get into bands really early.

"I played football when I was younger, obviously I come from a big footballing family but that didn't work out because I broke my ankle. I went to uni and went down the path of being a web developer and I was doing that for three years, at a desk doing nine til five. I set the playlist up in my spare time and somehow stumbled into being a full time manager.

"It's bizarre how things like that happen, but it you meet talented people then it just happens."

The band's track 'Punching Bag' is due out sometime in July.
