Man attacked by gang of youths in Whiteinch

A man's in hospital after being attacked by a gang of youths in Whiteinch.

Police say the 46-year-old was walking along Lime Street around 4.25pm on Wednesday when he became involved in an altercation with a group of 4 or 5 young men.

The man tried to walk away but was followed into Dumbarton Road where an object was thrown at his head.

He's currently in a stable condition at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Detectives are collecting CCTV footage from in and around the area for additional information on the suspects.

Detective Constable Jennifer Adams said: “We don’t know why this man was targeted by these youths and he has suffered a serious head injury.

"This behaviour won’t be tolerated and we will be utilising a number of resources to trace the youths responsible.

"A lot of people will have been in the area around the time of this incident and I’m sure people will have noticed these youths.

"I’m appealing to anyone who may have seen them or who may have any information about them to contact police.”
