Appeal for witnesses after wheelchair user hit by lorry in Greenock

A 41-year-old man remains in a serious condition in hospital

Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious road crash involving a wheelchair user and a lorry in Greenock.

A 41 year-old man was seriously injured after he was struck by an articulated lorry as he crossed Darymple Street, near to the Inverclyde Centre, at around 11.45am on Wednesday.

Emergency services attended, and he was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he is receiving treatment for his injuries.

Hospital staff describe his condition as serious.

The 52 year-old driver of the lorry, although shaken was uninjured.

Road closures were put in place to allow officers to carry out their enquiries, and the road was later re-opened.
