A Clydebank business is hoping to recruit workers from the Clydebank Watt Brothers store - days after it fell into administration.

It emerged on Friday that administrators KPMG had been appointed and stores across the country were closing with immediate effect.

229.of the 306 staff members at Watt Brothers were made redundant with immediate effect.

The chief executive of Together Energy in Clydebank's now reaching out to those from the store who are jobless in the hope of recruiting them with immediate effect, meaning they'll have a wage at the end of this month.

Around 22 staff members will be given a tour of the Together Energy building and offered interviews.

Paul Richards said: "It's a concern places closing in the shopping centre so the more people we can keep within the business park who are then in turn using the shopping centre, hopefully can help in some small way to reverse the closing down of so many shops on the high street.

"The company's been built on the real proud roots of Clydebank and in the three years that we've been growing now we've had 130 staff in the Clydebank office - so to hear of jobs in the local community going under, particularly so close to Christmas, anything at all that we can do to help, we'd be delighted to do that."

Former employees of Watt Brothers in Clydebank can contact Together Energy on hr@togetherenergy.co.uk or alternatively arrive at Erskine House on North Avenue in Clydebank between 9 and 10am on Monday 21, Tuesday 22 or Wednesday 23 October.
