"Vulnerable" missing Stranraer couple may be in Ayrshire

A couple, described as extremely vulnerable by police, have been reported missing from Stranraer.

Mary Smith, 63, and John Smith, 65, were last seen near to New Look on Bellavilla Road, around 10am on Friday 1 February 2019.

From enquiries carried out so far, police believe they may have travelled to Ayrshire.

Mary is described as having grey hair, wears glasses and uses a wheelchair. She was last seen wearing a bright red ski jacket.

John is described as of medium build, with grey hair and a pale complexion. He is believed to be wearing a blue jacket, a white shirt, black trousers, and may have a walking stick.

They may also be in possession of a small holdall bag with the word ‘Jeep’ on the side.

Inspector Stephen Bell from Dumfries Police Station said: “Mr and Mrs Smith are vulnerable and it is extremely important that we are able to trace them as quickly as possible and confirm that they are safe and well.

“We believe they have travelled to the Ayrshire area and may have attempted to secure accommodation somewhere. If anyone has seen the couple, or has even the slightest piece of information which could help confirm their whereabouts, please get in touch immediately.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Stranraer Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 0900 of Friday 1 February 2019.
