Business owners across Glasgow are being asked to put their hands into their pockets to help volunteers start a food truck to give rough sleepers who can't travel a hot meal.

The team at Homeless Project Scotland is asking sponsors to donate £2,000 to run the service in return for free advertising on the side of the van.

Businesses who sponsor the food truck are being offered advertising on the side of the van.

Chairman Colin McInnes said: "There will be a group of people on the truck serving hot meals and rolls.

"If a firm sponsors the van for a year then they can have their logo put on the van which will be moving around the city every day.

"We will also do our best to help promote them on social media and promote them in any way we can."

The charity has been running since October 2019 underneath Glasgow Central Station giving people soup and other essential items.

It's hoped the food truck will help even more vulnerable people across the city.

Colin claims demand for the night time service is ten times higher than it was when they started.

He added: "This will take food to hungry bellies and it will mean that parents will not need to take their children out of bed at night to get a decent meal.

"When we started three and a half years ago, we had 30 people using the soup kitchen each night and now we are seeing over 300 people on a daily basis."
