A Glasgow man's swapping some festive fizz for energy drinks as he takes part in a marathon this Christmas day.

Rob Shorthouse will run the gruelling 26.2 mile distance on a treadmill in his garage.

The 41 year old is doing it for the charity MND - Motor Neurone Disease - in support of his friend Gordon Aikman who was diagnosed with the debilitating disease aged just 29.

He aims to start at 10am and has set a target of under 3 hrs 30 mins.

He has the support of the Hawkins brothers who ran the marathon at the Rio Olympics, with younger brother Callum finishing an impressive 9th.
