Religious figures in Glasgow are slamming Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's call for Muslims to be banned from entering the US.

The controversial tycoon made the comment in reaction to the deadly shootings in San Bernardino, California where a radicalised couple killed 14 people.

In a campaign statement, he said a "total and complete" shutdown should remain until the US authorities "can figure out" Muslim attitudes to the US.

His comments have been widely rounded on by leaders. Prime Minister David Cameron's called them "divisive, unhelpful and quite simply wrong''.

Speaking to a regular media briefing in Westminster, Mr Cameron's official spokeswoman declined to say whether Mr Trump's comments might lead to him being barred from entry to the UK under hate-speech laws.

The General secretary of Glasgow Central Mosque Nabeel Shaikh has this message for Mr Trump.
