VIDEO: Historic Glasgow bar set to re-open
The Old Toll Bar on Paisley Road West in the Govan area, which is one of the oldest in the city, is opening its doors again after being shut for 3 years
An historic bar in the Govan area of Glasgow which has been used as a set for films and TV adverts is re-opening after three years.
The Old Toll Bar on Paisley Road West featured in the film adaptation of the Irvine Welsh novel 'Filth' starring James McAvoy and also in McEwans Export commercials.
The watering hole, which dates back to 1874, was also a favourite spot for the shipbuilders on the nearby Govan yards some of whom helped design the bar gantry which features wooden barrels.
The new owner wants to bring the pub back to its former glory with craft beers, old fashioned board games and a vinyl record player replacing TV's showing sports channels.
