A local veteran is taking on the incredible challenge of running 1,500 miles to support a mental health charity.
57-year-old Michael McMillan is taking a New Year’s challenge to a different level by taking on the mammoth task of running 1,500 miles in the hope of fundraising £1,500 for a cause close to his heart – mental health.
The distance is made up of half marathons, full marathons, and ultra-marathons – proving an ambitious task.
McMillan is a long-time supporter of numerous charities from Macmillan Cancer Support, the Motor Neurone Disease Association, and the British Heart Foundation.
But this time he has chosen to raise funds for mental health charity Who Dares Cares, which provides vital support to not only military personnel and veterans but also to emergency service workers and their families.
Drawing on his own personal experience with mental health, Michael is truly passionate about the cause and hopes this great challenge will not only raise valuable funds but also increase awareness of men’s mental health.
