Arthur Thackeray appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court last week to face 6 charges for alleged sexual offenses.
The party confirmed Arthur Misty Thackeray had temporarily stood down from the post but a spokesman said it would be inappropriate to comment further.
Mr Thackeray, 55, appeared in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court last week, the Crown Office confirmed.
He made no plea or declaration when he faced six charges under section 7(1) of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009 and was bailed.
One of the calls is claimed to have been made from a pub in Paisley.
The case was continued for further examination.
