Man dies on the way to hospital as police seal-off Uddingston streets

Police are investigating the death of a man in Uddingston on Sunday night.

The 38-year-old man was found seriously injured in the Generals Gate area around at 7.37pm on Sunday.

A statement from Police Scotland issue this morning said he was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital but was dead by the time they reached there.

They say officers remain at the scene as the investigation into the man's death continue.

The area around Generals Gate remains a scene of intense police activity this morning, with part of Old Glasgow Road sealed off.

Tape was also stretched across a footpath leading towards Uddingston Grammar School.

Several police vans and cars were parked at the top of hill the while officers searched the area with torches.

Residents living inside the cordon have only been able to leave and return with the permission of the officers at the scene.
