Uddingston man in court over religiously aggravated assault of Glasgow priest
The man made no plea and was released on bail.
A man has appeared in court charged with spitting on a priest outside a church.
Bradley Wallace, 24, allegedly assaulted Canon Thomas White, 43, by repeatedly spitting on him outside St Alphonsus’ church on July 7.
The charge is said to be aggravated by religious prejudice.
The priest was allegedly assaulted on the day an Orange walk went past his chapel on Stevenston Street in Glasgow’s Calton area.
Wallace, from Uddingston, South Lanarkshire, appeared in private from custody today at Glasgow Sheriff Court where he was represented by John Coogan, and made no plea.
He was released on bail and is expected to appear at court at a later date.
