Two women in hospital and man arrested following Cambuslang incident

The dramatic incident on Mill Road ended in a flat fire.

Two women are in hospital, and a man's been arrested, following a dramatic incident in Cambuslang - which ended with a blaze in a flat.

Police were told about a 41 year old and a 16 year old being attacked in Mill Road, in Halfway, yesterday afternoon.

Later a man barricaded himself into a flat and was seen leaping from a second floor balcony when the fire broke out.

A 34 year old has been arrested.

A police spokesperson said:

"Around 4.05pm, police received a report of two females being assaulted in Mill Road, Cambuslang."

"Emergency services attended and two females, aged 41 and 16, were taken to hospital."

"A man barricaded himself within a flat and a fire was set before he left the flat via the balcony."

"A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. Several properties were evacuated as a precaution. Inquiries are ongoing."
