Two woman in hospital after Stonehouse crash

Two women are in hospital after a crash in Stonehouse on Thursday afternoon. At around 3.50pm, a Nissan Juke being driven eastbound by a 54 year old woman on the A71 Stonehouse bypass near to Lockhart Street crashed with a Renault Captur being driven by a 62 year old woman.

The driver of the Nissan was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow suffering from serious head injuries where she is currently detained. Medical staff describe her condition as stable. The 62 year old driver of the Renault and her 64 year old male passenger were taken by ambulance to Wishaw General Hospital.

The 62 year old driver sustained back injuries and is detained in hospital. Medical staff describe her condition as stable. The 64 year old passenger was treated for whiplash injuries and later released.

Constable David Smith is continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash and is appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with information to come forward.
