Police are hunting two men over the stabbing of a delivery driver as he worked in Glasgow.

The attack in Carmichael Place, Battlefield, at about 9.40pm last night is being treated as attempted murder.

The 55-year-old takeaway delivery man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where medical staff describe his condition as stable.

Police said they have found "no motive'' for the stabbing.

Officers are carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area and checking CCTV footage.

Police are trying to trace two men who were seen in the area at the time of the attack. They are white, in their mid 20s and were wearing dark-coloured hooded tops.

One of the men is about 5ft 10ins with a medium build while the other man is slightly taller with a "square jaw''.

Detective sergeant John Stewart said: "There appears to be no motive for this attack and it's important we establish how the man came about his injuries.

"We are, of course, looking at CCTV images which may provide us with more detailed information, however I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to get in touch with us, if you saw anything you think was a little odd then please pass on your information to officers.

"I would like to assure members of the community that a significant amount of work is being undertaken in this investigation and additional police patrols will be in the area to provide reassurance to local residents.''

Anyone with information can contact officers on the non-emergency number, 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
