Detectives are appealing for witnesses after two men were attacked in Glasgow's city centre.

The pair, aged 43 and 33, were walking along Hope Street, close to its junction with Waterloo Street, when they were approached by a group of men who assaulted them and pushed them to the ground at around 11.25pm on Friday.

The 33-year-old man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he was treated for a head injury.

The 43-year-old man received minor injuries.

Detective Sergeant Colin MacRitchie said: “Enquiries are continuing into this incident and officers are studying CCTV images to gather more information on the men responsible for this attack. We believe that the suspects had been in one of the pubs in Hope Street between Argyle Street and Waterloo Street.

“I would ask anyone who witnessed this attack, or who had any information that may assist our police investigation to contact City Centre Police Office on 101. Alternatively CRIMESTOPPERS can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
