Two men hunted after house deliberately set on fire with occupants inside

The fire was started on North Biggar Road in Airdrie on Sunday night.

Two men are being hunted for setting fire to a house while the occupants were inside.

The incident happened in North Biggar Road, Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, at around 8.30pm on Sunday.

Police said the occupants were inside when they heard a bang and found a fire spreading when they went to investigate.

Two men were spotted climbing the garden fence of the house and officers are appealing for any information.

Detective Sergeant Cameron Miller said: We believe this was a targeted attack and it is critical that we trace those responsible as quickly as possible.

From our inquiries so far, we understand that two men climbed fencing to get into the garden of the property and I would appeal to anyone living nearby who may have seen them to come forward.

I would also ask anyone in the surrounding area who noticed two men acting suspiciously around the time of the incident to get in touch.
