Two men have appeared in court accused of being involved in serious organised crime in Rutherglen.

David Stephen and Shaun Brown made no plea at a private hearing in Glasgow Sheriff Court.

The pair - both aged 30 - are claimed to have knowingly arranged transport and delivered controlled drugs to other people.

Court papers further state that they arranged and collected criminal monies to another person.

A second allegation says the men were concerned in the supply of cocaine which is aggravated by a connection with serious organised crime.

Another charge claims that they were concerned in the supply of cannabis which is aggravated by a connection with serious organised crime.

These alleged offences are claimed to have occurred between March 26 2020 and June 12 2020 at two properties in Rutherglen, Lanarkshire.

Stephen faces a stand alone charge of directing people whose identity is unknown to the prosecutor to commit an offence aggravated by serious organised crime.

Stephen is stated to have collected cocaine and criminal money as well as delivered controlled drugs to others.

He is further claimed to have directed someone in the sale of and supply of controlled drugs.

The allegation says that Stephen used an encrypted device with the user handle 'Wateryrose'.

This is claimed to have taken place between June 5 and June 12 2020 at one of the Rutherglen properties.

The men were represented by their lawyers Callum Ross and Neal McShane.

Stephen and Brown were remanded in custody and committed for further examination by Sheriff Paul Reid.

They will appear at court again within the next eight days.
